Orla Eves – York House

Orla Eves - York House

Orla has been photographed at the memorial bench in the grounds of York House. It is her favourite place to have quiet time and represents her new found independence.

At 13, Orla had a life-threatening tumour. She underwent surgery to remove the tumour but was left with severe brain damage. Her injury affected the areas that deal with satiation, leaving her experiencing continuous hunger.

Orla was able to come to York House when she turned 18. She was wheelchair bound when she arrived, but through ongoing physiotherapy and her own commitment to regaining her independence, she has made amazing progress over the last 5 years.

It is a day-to-day struggle but Orla has gained insight into controlling her appetite and has regained mobility. She can now walk for over a mile and even completed a 5k race for life.
